JAMES DANIEL "JIM" PAYNE ~ Class of 1978
November 8, 1959 - January 7, 2024
James Daniel Payne, 64, peacefully passed away on January 7, 2024 with his wife, Jaye Payne of 45 years, and his two daughters by his side.
Jim graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1978 and graduated from the University of Washington. Jim continued his career as a Senior Project Controls Officer for DOE and taught at CBC for five years.
In addition to his wife, Jaye, Jim is also survived by his five siblings; his mother, Clairetta; along with his children: Janene Payne-Herman, Bryan Payne and Shelly Payne-Deery (Ryan Deery); his seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating and especially spending time at his cabin on Lake Chelan. He had an infectious laugh you could hear from across the room! He loved “blues” music and was always up for a party! He took opportunities to help others when needed and touched so many lives. He will truly be missed.
The family will be having a celebration of life party (come and go as you please) on February 17, 2024 from 1-5pm at the Payne’s home.
